Hi!
In a few weeks I will be starting with my interrail trip.
I had planned to travel from Athens to Sofia.
However, there is a lot of contradicting information about this journey, especially the part between Thessaloniki and Sofia.
Two things that I can\'t find out for sure are:
Is there only a day train between Thessaloniki and Sofia? Because some places mention a night train from Thessaloniki to Bucharest, but I can\'t find any information on official sites, like trainose.gr
If the day train is the only option, I would also like to know if there are couchettes on the night train between Athens and Thessaloniki. Somewhere, I red that they switched to chair only a few years ago, is that still up to date?
Thanks in advance for your response!

Hi!

There is a daily day train from Thessaloniki to Sofia, described in the blog: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/from-thessaloniki-to-sofia-by-train/[/ux]
Since 2017, there is a regular bus replacement service between Strimon and the the border station in Bulgaria, Kulata.

Also, there will be a once weekly night train this summer again, leaving Thessaloniki on Sunday evenings at 2310, arriving the next morning in Sofia at 0550 (then continuing to Bucharest at 0920).

There are seats only (and a restaurant car) on the night train from Athens to Thessaloniki.
